Flash ESDP meeting, ISO standardisation

Classé dans : ESDP meetings | 0

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, face-to-face meetings were not possible. As day-long meetings by videoconference are not always as efficient a solution as desired, it was decided to hold shorter meetings at shorter intervals on a small number of agenda items. This flash meeting was scheduled via videoconference on 20 January 2021 (10:00-12:00 CET) on the subject of ISO standardisation of ESD and AESD standards.

ESDP should explain how we can collaborate (e.g. as advisers) while making people admit the imperative need for us to remain in an “occupational” framework. This corresponds to the role of the ESDP which, from a European point of view, does not intervene in the internal affairs of the Member States but proposes advices.

As far as our ISO approach is concerned, it must also be in line with the definitions, standards and rules of other SD global organisations. The ESDP could easily be in line with AAUS (i.e. USA, Canada, New Zealand, etc.). Such a framework is therefore the best one for an ISO approach that will be useful in our professional context, i.e. science.

Reminder: there is also an ongoing process by The World Scientific Diving Training Council [WSDTC]
